Consulting on the next ten years: summer 2019

Closed 23 Sep 2019

Opened 1 Jul 2019

We have recently published our draft strategy 2020-2030, which will shape our development, advocacy and investment approach over the next ten years.  We have opened a consultation on the draft strategy to run between 1 July and 23 September 2019.

Over the last 18 months, we have gathered a huge range of evidence and spoken to over 5,000 people, including artists, staff in museums, libraries and arts organisations, as well as our own staff, the public, children and young people and stakeholders from across the creative industries, education, local government and beyond.

In our first consultation in autumn 2018, we asked people whether our seven proposed outcomes were the right challenges to focus on over the next decade.  We heard a wide range of responses, which we considered as we refined and developed a draft strategy.

This second and final consultation on the draft strategy will ask you to respond to our proposed vision, three outcomes and related priorities, and three investment principles, as well as ideas for how we should deliver the new strategy.

The consultation is open for anyone to take part in, but is primarily designed for those working within or with the cultural sector, and covers various aspects of the draft strategy and its delivery in detail.  There is also an opportunity to contribute more general responses in chapter 9.

Before you complete the survey, we would like you to read some information in preparation. Please read the three documents below as they give you useful background information before you answer the questions

  1. Introduction to the consultation
  2. Our draft strategy 2020-2030
  3. A guide to the delivery plans

These documents shouldn’t take long to read (around 15-20 minutes) and you might find it useful to have them to hand as you go through the survey.

What happens next

We are currently reviewing everything we heard during the consultation and we will share an update on next steps soon. You can find out the latest information on developing our new strategy at
